The Rega io stands out first of all because of its compactness, but at the same time also because of its equally small – and therefore pleasant – price tag.
With a width of only 18 centimetres and a weight of 3 kilos, the io of the British Rega is inconspicuous. But make no mistake about its modest appearance. It’s a complete class AB final amplifier with everything you need on board. The aim of the developers was to bring out the sound quality of the Brio – Rega’s too, of course – in a more compact form and at a tighter price.
By the way, there doesn’t seem to be any real savings on parts. As output transistors from Sanken were chosen, as well as a volume control, made by Alps. A solid mains power supply should guarantee a stable presentation. The amplifier delivers a maximum power of 2 x 30 Watt in 8 Ohm.
Phono
If you want to listen via headphones, then the headphone connection is a nice adition. Furthermore, vinyl enthusiasts will find what they are looking for. There is a MM phono input. In addition, you will also find a set of line inputs on the Rega io. The speaker connections are suitable for litz, spades, and banana plugs. The price of all this beauty is only €499 and you also get a remote control included.
