KEF has announced the KW1, a wireless adapter specially designed for the subwoofers Kube and KF92 of this brand.
Cables are seen by more and more people as unsightly. In any case, things you prefer to see as little as possible in the living room. And then the new KEF KW1 wireless subwoofer adapter comes in handy. It allows you to control the Kube and KF92 wirelessly. It is compatible with the KEF LSX and LS50 Wireless Active Music Systems. You connect the KW1 via the line output available on source, the power supply is supplied via a micro-USB connection. The receiver is inserted into the sub’s expansion port (Kube 8b, 10b, 12b and KF92 are equipped with this). The transmission quality is 48 kHz / 24 bit. If you wish, you can connect another sub via an optional additional receiver.
The maximum distance between transmitter and receiver is – under ideal circumstances of course – a good 27 metres. The transmission/reception frequency can be selected from 5.2 GHz and 5.8 GHz. The KEF KW1 Wireless Subwoofer Adapter Kit costs £180. A separate extra receiver has a price of £80, so that’s all quite manageable. Available from September this year; from that moment on it’s also possible to have less cables in your home.
