The well-known audiophile label TRPTK delivers a new digitaal music format: 32-bit floating point DXD. Let us explain what that means.
TRPTK is the first music label to deliver the 32-bit floating point DXD music format. This format, according to the label, has many advantages over the existing formats such as cleaner noise, less distortion and hardly anomalies Using ultra-high-end microphones, custom-designed equipment and technology, TRPTK Already has its albums stored in a resolution of 352.8 kHz at 32 bits, 16 times the resolution of standardard CD recordings.
‘While a lot of recordings are still being made on 24-bit Fixed Point, a formaat with substantial more dynamics and sound possibilities than the 16–bit of an old-fashioned Red Book CD, TRPTK records everything in 32-bit FloatingPoint. The reason is that as a listener, you’re literally immersed in the music and can be virtually present at the recording session. So from now on, you really get the feeling be part of the original recording. The musicians have already a seat reserved for you on stage’, TRPTK says in its press release.
Larger dynamic range
The 32-bit Floating Point DXD format has many advantages according to TRPTK: ‘The dynamic range is significantly larger. No less than 1.528 dB. This makes 32-bit Floating Point DXD very suitable for digital playback equipment equipped with a suitable DAC or an integrated amplifier with dac. These devices make usually somehow use Digital Signal Processing (DSP), such as volume control, balance or format conversion. The 32-bit Floating Point DXD format ensures that no clipping or distortion occurs in the final phase of the conversion process. The other advantage for digitalhe playback equipment is that by ‘providing’ the native format additional conversion is unnecessary. The new format is more direct and …. the resulting music experience is amazingly realistic’.
Sounds more analogous
“In short”, the label notes, “32-bit Floating Point DXD, as introduced by TRPTK, will make digital audio sound more analogue: digital audio without any abnormalities perceptible to the ear. Less conversion results in more music! TRPTK currently offers 22 albums on their website as 32-bit Floating Point DXD downloads, in classical and jazz.
