Sonos speakers can be made suitable for multi-channel LPCM via a firmware update, which is good news for gamers, for example.

With a software update rolling out today, the Sonos Arc now supports multi-channel LPCM. This provides a new, immersive sound experience for gaming, Blu-ray disc watching/listening and more.
To get support for multi-channel LPCM on the Sonos Arc, customers are updating the latest Sonos software being rolled out in app stores today for all existing and future Arc set-ups,” says the manufacturer.
