The chances that you have never seen one of the JBL Bluetooth speakers are not very high. The Charge 5 is the most recent incarnation.
JBL offers a range of compact and less compact Bluetooth speakers. They are all characterized by a fairly impressive sound. They pull out all the stops when it comes to the symbiosis of acoustic hardware and software-based DSP technology.
The JBL Charge is the ‘midrange model’ in terms of size. And the fifth generation is now on the verge of launch. As the name may suggest, you can also use the speaker to refuel your smartphone on the go. The solid 7500 mAh battery will – fully charged – play for 20 hours. New features include a ‘race-circuit’ shaped acoustic channel, and separate tweeters.
Water and dust resistant
Where the previous generation of JBL Charge’s was already able to withstand a big splash of water (IPX7, which means that it remains submerged in water up to 1.5 meters deep) the ‘5’ with IPX67 goes a step further. The robust speaker is now not only waterproof but also completely dustproof. If desired, you can pair multiple speakers via the so-called PartyBoost option. The JBL’s Bluetooth 5.1 compatible Charge 5 will be available from March this year. You will have to pay an amount of €179 for it, with a free choice of colors.
