BOBcast special: 80 years of Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan celebrates his eightieth birthday on May 24. A great milestone from a pop icon of note. And worthy of an extended special.

Bob Dylan is probably the most important pop musician and lyricist of the past sixty years and a cultural-social icon that has no equal. Over the past year, Chris Kijne and Lars Hulshof, along with a wide variety of Dylan-loving guests, attempted to unravel the mystery surrounding this cultural icon in their 26-part BOBcast.

With Dylan’s 80th birthday just around the corner, the BOBcast concludes with a smashing, and above all musical, special on (Dutch) NPO Radio 1 and NPO 2 Extra. With special guests such as Daan Heerma van Voss, Saskia de Coster, Freek de Jonge and Nico Dijkshoorn.

Conversations, columns and performances

In this musical finale Chris and Lars will have one more talk with a whole range of (well known) enthusiasts about their almost birthday idol. Guests include Daan Heerma van Voss, Saskia de Coster, Nico Dijkshoorn, Freek de Jonge, Roel Bentz van den Berg and Iris Koppe. De Dijk front man Huub van der Lubbe, Lucky Fonz III and Tim Knol, among others, will provide musical support and intermezzos with their bands: they will play their favorite Bob Dylan songs.

The BOBcast special 80 years Bob Dylan can be heard on Radio NPO 1 on Friday May 21 (tomorrow) from 20.30 until 23.00 and on Monday May 24 at 20.30 on NPO 2 Extra.
