As long as Omnicron doesn’t interfere, Record Store Day will take place on April 23 next year. Make a note in your agenda!
Record Store Day, as you may know, was created to put local record stores in the spotlight. And, of course, to bring in some extra customers for them. Often unique products that are only available on that day are released. And only to get in a physical store. So basically a social happening that reminds us of stuffed record stores in the 70s. The point is that happenings with lots of people in close proximity to each other are currently not a very good scenario. Whether April 23rd – the Record Store Day scheduled for next year – will work as planned remains to be seen. On the other hand, the concept has proven in recent years that it can also be organized a little differently. Which worked out ok in these crazy times.
Anyway, put 23 April in your agenda. And keep an eye on the website of the organization, the Dutch version can be found here. Apart from the latest news about the day itself you will also find the releases that will be released especially for Record Store Day. The first ones are already known!
