Rumors are swirling that Apple will come out with a subscription model for its popular iPhones, among others.
It should possibly start already this year – with the arrival of the iPhone 14: a subscription model for Apple hardware. How exactly this will work is – they are rumors, after all – still unclear. But it may mean that you pay a monthly fee and are guaranteed the latest model of iPhone every year. The problem with this is often – as we have learned from software subscriptions – that the bottom line is you often pay more in comparison to a separate purchase. In the latter case, however, you often do longer with your purchase, which saves the world a lot of unnecessary waste. In short: we will have to wait and see if and how Apple will roll out such a subscription structure. And will other hardware manufacturers perhaps follow suit…?
