Google TV supports profiles

It took a while, but Google TV – the successor to good old Android TV – now supports user profiles.

User profiles in Google TV obviously come in handy in the real world. It allows you to offer your housemates their own “viewing environment” on devices. In many cases that will be the Google Chromecast in the TV version, or the smart dongle. But by now the app can also be found embedded in various TV sets. Incidentally, it is remarkable that the profiles feature has been delayed for so long. After all: Over a year ago, the creator already added child profiles. Which should make the step to general profiles only a small one. Anyway, they are there now and per user a personal viewing environment is realized. Including viewing lists and recommendations based on the viewing behavior of that user.
