Sonos has announced the Sub Mini, a wonderfully compact mini-subwoofer. But one that is (comparatively) hefty in price too.
The new cylindrical shaped Sonos Sub Mini measures 23 x 30.5 cm and features a space-saving driver. Inside, you’ll find two 6-inch woofers driven by a Class D amplifier. The speakers are arranged opposite each other, which, according to the manufacturer, should prevent unwanted background noise. And that while the low frequencies continue down to 25 Hz. You can choose from matte monochrome, black and white finishes. The idea is that you combine the mini-sub with one of the smaller speakers in the Sonos range. Specifically, the Gen 2, Ray, One, One SL or Symfonisk. The connection is wireless via low latency 5 GHz Wi-Fi. The price – especially compared to the intended speakers with which the Sub Mini should be used – is quite high: €499. Available from early next month.
