With the Aune Flamingo, you ‘score’ not only a DAC, but also a headphone amplifier built around tubes.
The nice thing about the Aune Flamingo is that you don’t have to choose between tubes or semiconductors. In this DAC with built-in headphone amplifier, you switch between those by simply pressing a button. And thus, according to the manufacturer, you choose between the warm sounds of yesteryear or the precise sound of the modern semiconductor. The maximum achievable quality offered by the DAC is 32 bit / 768 kHz PCM, DSD512. Via the digital coax input, a maximum quality of 24 bit / 384 kHz and DoP128 is possible. To the variable output, connect a power amplifier directly, or a set of active speakers.
If you stick to headphones, the well-known 3.5mm jack is available for that purpose; a 3.5mm adapter is included. While listening, seven digital filters are at your disposal. The Flamingo costs €229. Should you want it, a Bluetooth version of the Aune Flamingo is also available, which supports LDAC and aptX HD, among other things. For this variant, you have to pay €289.
