Grado presents the new GW100x wireless headphones, an evolution from predecessor GW100.
The Grado GW100x is the upgraded version of the GW100. The latter was the manufacturer’s first open headphones with Bluetooth capabilities. The GW100x features new drivers, the fourth generation 44mm X-series drivers to be exact. Furthermore, the magnetic circuit is more powerful and the voice coil has become lighter in weight. This combination should ensure a higher efficiency of the drivers plus even less distortion. More tinkering has been done to a variety of housing and interior issues, which Grado says leads to 60% less “sound leakage” compared to the manufacturer’s wired headphones.
As mentioned, the Grado GW100x is a Bluetooth headphone. It supports the codecs aptX Adaptive, AAC and the standard SBC. When fully charged, the battery provides a playing time of 46 hours, a vast improvement from the mere 15 hours offered by its predecessor. Wired listening is also possible, by the way, should you wish. The GW100x costs $275.
