Yamaha introduces its new flagship planar magnetic headphones, in the form of the YH-5000SE.
The Yamaha YH-5000SE is the first planar magnetic headphone released by the manufacturer in 30 years. It features the legendary in-house orthodynamic drivers and is absolutely one of the world’s lightest headphones; only 320 grams clean off the hook. Development of the headphones began back in 2016, since then the designers tested 1,000 different diaphragms, according to the manufacturer, before they were finally satisfied. Much attention has been paid to wearing comfort. Included are two ear pads, one made of synthetic leather and one made of suede. The YH-5000SE has a price tag of $7499. Is that a bit too much for you? Rumor has it that a “cheaper” non-SE version is in the pipeline.
