This category is more or less the opposite of the species described above. These are devices that only need to be supplied with power and a sound signal; two cables per side are enough to activate this monitoriae. Less is more seems to be the motto of this species.
We understand that these monitors are also used in sound studios where the music is recorded. We named this category after an iconic music studio located on an island. The modest appearance of these devices is deceptive; once turned on, the listener is rewarded with an improbably sophisticated sound that does not match the simple appearance. But actually, we’re enjoying this very much.
From the British ATC we heard a CDA-2 (CD player/pre-amplifier/DAC) and a SCM 40A active floor-standing monitor. The Swiss PSI presented a living room version of its studio monitors, the Héritgae3.
