What’s a monitor speaker
A monitor speaker is a compact speaker that stands (should stand) on a tripod. Officially it is the name for a compact loudspeaker for the studio. In popular parlance, a monitor-speaker is also called a book-shelf. Don’t forget to buy a tripod at a bookshelf (or monitor speaker)
What is a floorstanding speaker
A floor-standing loudspeaker is a higher model that stands completely on the floor. Usually a floor stand is 1 meter or higher. This is because otherwise the tweeter is not at ear level
What is the difference between a bookhelf and a monitor speaker?
Mainly the size. But in many cases a floor stand can also display more low frequency (bass). There doesn’t have to be a difference in price. There are both more expensive floorstanders and monitors (book halves).
