Metrum Acoustics is back!

Good news: Metrum Acoustics is back. Founder Cees Ruijtenberg has had some trouble with an investor. But that’s all in the past. Cees Ruijtenberg has let us know that they are back in business. By the way: the support on products never stopped. It’s just that they now can use the name en launch new products under the name Metrum again. 

Readers of Alpha Audio know that we actively use Metrum Acoustics products in our review set-ups. The reason is simple; they sound very nice. The whole custom NOS-architecture is for us very pleasing to the ear. Also: the pricing is very reasonable. Anyway: we are very pleased to hear that Cees Ruijtenberg now can use the name again. In a way the child has returned to it’s parents.

It is no secret Metrum Acoustics has had some trouble over the last year which ended in a bankruptcy ruling by the Dutch courts in February.

In 2018 an investment firm joined the company and implemented a strategy of fast international growth through marketing and sales efforts. In practice this meant an organization that was understaffed and overworked, delivering premium audio products with an under par customer services experience. This was great for short term profitability but not sustainable in the long term and was cause for disagreement within the board.

Over this period of time too much customers experienced a terrible service or no service at all. This is very regrettable and does not fit with the premium audio brand Metrum Acoustics is.

As of July 2020 the ownership of Metrum Acoustics is back with its original founders. The brand, intellectual property and inventory have been bought back and the company and team are being built up again. The goal is to have business up and running as of August.
