Nothing is as contradictory as vinyl, so there is definitely a market for a Bluetooth-capable turntable like the new AT-LP120XBT-USB from Audio-Technica… or is there?
What’s so contradictory about a Bluetooth turntable? Well, the vinyl enthusiast keeps claiming that the analog sound that is reproduced via equally analog records sounds better than any digital reproduction. Everybody can take that for granted, there is no arguing about taste.
But what does a Bluetooth turntable do? Indeed: it converts the much appreciated analogue signal to a digital signal, which is also compressed… Apart from this strange twist, a Bluetooth turntable is quite handy. But then less for the purist and much more for anyone who just wants to listen to his (old) record collection without wanting to discuss what sounds better.
And for simply enjoying a piece of wireless music, the new and affordable Audio-Technica AT-LP120XBT-USB Bluetooth comes in handy. Also for anyone who is not a vinyl fanatic, but has a unique collection that is still not available in digital form. You can also use the ready to use USB output to easily digitize records via a PC.

The Audio-Technica AT-LP120XBT-USB Bluetooth offers three turning speeds: 33, 45 and 78 rpm, an adapter is included. Also included is an AT-HS6 cartridge holder and the AT-VM95E MM cartridge, both from Audio-Technica itself.
An external power supply including rectifier and stabilizer should ensure less noise in the signal path. Furthermore, the AT-LP120XBT-USB has variable speed control with quartz speed lock, a detachable light for the dark hours, a switchable phono/line output and a supplied dust cap. The price is certainly neat: €329.
