Marantz launches entry-level integrated amplifier and CD player

Marantz releases the new PM6007 integrated amplifier and the CD6007 CD player. Designed for listeners who want to take the next step in their two-channel hi-fi system.

The new Marantz PM6007 and CD6007 combine Marantz traditional musicality with a range of sound and connectivity enhancements for – so the manufacturer says – true enthusiasts:

“Designed for listeners who want to take the next step in their two-channel hi-fi system with unprecedented performance and connectivity capabilities. Both products have been carefully tuned by Marantz’s sound master and have everything you need to maximise performance, including traditional Current Feedback amplification topology and an industry-leading AK4490 DAC”.

The PM6007 integrated amplifier

The PM6007 is an advanced 2-channel integrated amplifier that optimally reproduces music from both digital and analogue sources. The PM6007 integrated amplifier delivers 45 watts per channel (8 ohm, 20 Hz-20 kHz) and is equipped with a toroidal transformer, larger power capacitors and carefully selected components.

The PM6007 is – as Marantz writes – developed by a team with more than 65 years of experience in the field of hi-fi. The Current Feedback amplifier technology with HDAM-SA3 circuit design offers a wide bandwidth and wide dynamic range, for a deep stereo image and reproduction of the smallest details. Combined with the high-currency power supply, the PM6007 has a large power reserve to power even the most demanding speakers.

Hi-res

Equipped with both analogue and digital inputs, the PM6007 meets the connectivity requirements of the modern listener (five analogue inputs, one coaxial input and two optical digital inputs) including a Moving Magnet phono preamplifier with a subwoofer output.

Marantz: “Fans can enjoy high-resolution digital content thanks to a leading integrated AK4490 DAC (digital-to-analogue converter) with up to 192 kHz/24 bit resolution for optimum fidelity. The PM6007 has been developed with the utmost care. In addition to high quality speaker connections with A/B circuit, a fully shielded DAC unit and copper screws, its sturdy feet provide high-quality sound’.

CD6007 CD player

The carefully designed, precisely tuned CD6007 CD player from Marantz consists of specially selected high quality components and an improved circuit design, including a large, high-speed silent power supply, high-current schottkydiodes and capacitors that are 120 percent larger than previous models. These provide more stability and less AC noise, even during intensive listening sessions. The CD6007 features a new, industry-leading AK4490 DAC (digital-to-analogue converter) with two selectable filter options,” Marantz says.

DSD and more

The press-release continues: “The new DAC offers up to 192 kHZ/24 bits and DSD 5.6 MHz resolution for optimal musicality with detailed bass, pleasant midrange tones and smooth, extended high frequencies for CD playback, as well as high-resolution digital files from a USB stick”.

CD and CD-R/RW as well as WAV, MP3, AAC, WMA, FLAC HD, ALAC, AIFF and DSD files are supported. The analogue signal in the CD6007 is driven by Marantz’ proprietary HDAM-SA2 opamp to gold-plated outputs on the rear panel. The sturdy feet and double-layer bottom panel prevent unwanted vibrations and ensure the precision mechanism in the player. The CD6007 features an integrated headphone amplifier with adjustable gain for use with a wide range of headphones. Also included is an elegant new remote control to operate the PM6007 amplifier.

The PM6007 a €549 and CD6007 a €449 by Marantz are available from 7 September in black or silver-gold.
