Bowers & Wilkins’ new CDA-16 Multiroom power amplifier can drive a combination of ceiling or wall speakers in up to eight rooms at once.
The new CDA-16 Multiroom power amplifier has the potential to propel any Bowers & Wilkins speaker to new heights of performance, the manufacturer reports. Thanks to its 16 channels, the CDA-16 can provide sound for the entire house. However, the compact 1U design of this amplifier takes up little space. The settings are configurable and the stereo Class-D channels can be set up as a bridge for even more powerful mono output, if necessary.
Commercial applications
By default, the CDA-16 delivers 50W per channel at 8 Ohm load, increasing to 100W at 4 Ohm speakers. When the bridge functionality is set, the power output increases to 200W at 8 Ohms.
Connecting sources is easy, with eight pairs of RCA phono inputs for line-level analog connection. The CDA16 also offers the ability to send the same signal to all outputs via one ‘global’ input. This makes this multi-room power amplifier well suited for commercial applications such as retail, hospitality and offices. The ultra-compact CDA-16 is rack-mountable and uses cool-running Class D amplification to ensure maximum output power. It is only 44.5mm high (1U) and easily accommodates both hi-fi and installation rack systems.
