Vertere Acoustics has released a new generation of turntable control, a “digital” one this time.
The new Vertere Acoustics Tempo is a control unit for driving a turntable motor. The Tempo features a microprocessor that is used to generate the required sine and cosine waveforms. These are then converted to analog voltages by a DAC. Two bridge amplifiers provide sufficient power to finally drive the motor. You connect the Tempo via a 7-pin connector. On the front of the device you will find a mode and speed switch. This has three programmable options, allowing for fast switching between, for example, 33 and 45 rpm.
Carefully selected components
Vertere Acoustics points out the careful composition of the whole. Among other things, a gold-plated circuit board was chosen, four separate power supply points that each supply voltage to a separate part of the circuit, and Pulse-R cabling and a D-Fi LED power supply channel.
The latter – intended to drive the motor – should help reduce noise and distortion. The digital portion of the Vertere Acoustics Tempo is double-shielded (copper first and stainless steel second). The Tempo was conceived for use with the SG-1 and RG-1 turntables. You will pay for the controller at a cost of €3598.
