JBL L75ms, old stuff in a new jacket

The new L75ms is not the first model that JBL has given a modern look. The speaker looks retro, but offers all the modern streaming options under the hood.

The wooden cabinet covered with walnut veneer, together with the characteristic “Quadrex” foam grille, evokes times gone by. In short: bring that seventies atmosphere back into the living room with the new JBL L75ms, or put something special on your (home) office.

Behind the grille are two 1-inch dome tweeters and two white-colored bass drivers. Both feature a forward-facing bass reflex vent. Finally, a center-mounted single midrange driver is provided. The whole is placed on an arc shape, and each driver is driven by its own amplifier.

Phono and HDMI ARC

Behind the retro look, modern technology can be found. Google Chromecast, Apple AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth are all present. Furthermore, JBL gives you 90 days of free streaming with Qobuz.

A nice detail is that the music service has a playlist ready for you that was used by JVC during the development of the speaker. In terms of inputs, there is provision for 3.5 mm line in, MM Phono and HDMI ARC. The latter makes it possible to use the JBL L75ms in combination with a television.

And should you need even more bass there is an output to which a subwoofer can be connected. The speaker has a price tag of $1500.
