Chord Company has released a new USB cable in the form of the Clearway USB, featuring good shielding.
Digital devices – especially PCs and laptops that are not really optimized for audio – are a source of (HF) noise. Also the surrounding devices – monitor, printer, etc. – are often sources of radiation. To minimize this in an audio signal, good shielding is a first line of defense. Exactly that (and more) the new Chord Company Clearway USB has to offer.
The cord features a double foil shield plus a braided shield to keep out annoying noise. Furthermore, the zinc alloy connectors are coated with a gold layer. Between both connectors, Chord Company has provided conductors of 26 AWG (a measure of cable thickness) made of oxygen-free copper.
Different lengths
The Chord Company Clearway USB is available immediately for a cost starting at (for 0.75 cm) of £100. Other lengths are also available, namely 1.5 meters, 3 meters and 5 meters. So there is something for everyone.
