Don’t be fooled by the look of the Airpulse P100x, which is based on radios from the past. Under the hood, modern technology is the order of the day.
The MDF-made enclosure houses a pair of Air-Blade tweeters, designed by speaker designer and sound engineer Phil Jones. A striking feature of these things is the oval diaphragm, which should provide better high-frequency reproduction. As a mid-low-tone driver, Airpulse has opted for a single one fitted with a hard-anodized aluminum cone. This in turn is suspended in a heavy frame made of ultra-rigid cast magnesium alloy. A 30 mm voice coil completes the whole.
The frequency range of the P100x runs from 50 Hz to 20 kHz; internally, a 2 x 10 Watt plus 1 x 40 Watt amplifier drives the drivers.
AptX HD
The Airpulse P100x uses Bluetooth 5.1, with aptX HD supported as the codec. Transparent Cable supplied the internal cabling. The speaker will cost you a sum of £499.99. And that includes a remote control.
The more advanced settings you realize via the buttons on the front of the device. Furthermore, in terms of color there is only one choice: cherry wood. But in our opinion, that fits in perfectly with the whole design!
