McIntosh RS250 & RS150 streaming speakers

McIntosh presents the RS250 and RS150 active speakers, equipped with wireless streaming capabilities and Bluetooth.

The new McIntosh RS150 is a compact active speaker that features a host of connectivity options. Apple AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Bluetooth, Roon but also Spotify Connect and TIDAL Connect are present. As for Bluetooth 5.0, the codecs aptX HD, aptX Low Latency and AAC are supported. The built-in amplifier unit features a digital version of the signature McIntosh VU meter. The maximum power that can be delivered to the bass driver is 90 watts; a maximum of 30 watts goes to the tweeter.

RS250

The McIntosh RS250 (pictured above) also features the options mentioned for the RS150 in terms of (streaming) connectivity. The maximum power output this ‘table radio’ designed device can produce is significantly more than that of the RS150: a total of 650 watts, distributed over two bass drivers, four midrange drivers and two tweeters (spread over two channels, that is). Again you will find the digital versions of the well-known VU meters. Also available are HDMI ARC, an MM phono input and even a jack for headphones. The McIntosh RS150 costs €1590; the RS250 changes hands for €3850. Available from next month on.
