Marantz releases a brand new CD player. The CD 60 can do more than just play CDs, it also has no trouble with USB media.
The new Marantz CD 60 plays CDs, of course, being a CD player. It’s released perfectly on time, since just like other retro-media, CD sales have been on the rise lately. We won’t go into detail about whether this is useful in today’s world. However, do you have a large collection of old (mostly silver) discs lying around and you just want to listen to them? Then it’s nice to see that there is once again a new player. An additional advantage is that the CD 60 not only plays CDs, but can also play hi-res media (up to 24 bit / 192 kHz and DSD up to 5.6 Mhz) from USB memory sticks and the like.
Headphone amplifier
The CD 60 has the Marantz HDAM (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Modules) on board, according to the manufacturer superior to off-the-shelf chips. Furthermore, the player features a ‘reference-class’ DAC, where you as a user have the choice between two filters: gentle roll-off and sharper roll-off. The HDAM-SA2 headphone amplifier with three gain settings means you can drive a wide range of headphones. The new Marantz costs £749.
