Pro-Ject presents the completely symmetrically built and brand new turntable X2 B, including a tuned pickup system from Ortofon.
The new Pro-Ject X2 B record player is a belt driven one. You can choose between 33, 45, and 78 rpm, so a dive in the (further) past is an option. The platter weighs 2 kilos and is 3 centimeters thick, made of acrylic. It rests on a support of stainless steel and is mounted in a brass bearing. The player, measuring 46 x 15 x 34 centimeters in total and equipped with an MDF plinth, has a total weight of 10 kilograms. What makes this Pro-Ject special is the pre-assembled and tuned Ortofon MC Quintet Red system. This is paired with an aluminum tonearm coated with carbon fiber. You can adjust both azimuth and vertical tracking as desired (and/or needed). The tone arm height is also adjustable.
XLR
The built-in phono preamp delivers the signal not to a more traditional cinch unbalanced output, but to balanced XLR outputs. Available in matte white and matte black, at a cost of €1599. There is also a cheaper variant available in the form of the Pro-Ject X1 B. It is internally symmetrical, but comes factory-fitted with an MM cartridge (a Pick It S2 MM, to be exact). For this version, you have to pay €999. At the time of writing, the X2 B was not yet on the European, but on the American site of the manufacturer to find.
