Bose announces the new Smart Soundbar 600 – a small, sleek soundbar with Dolby Atmos and Bose TrueSpace technology on board.
The new Bose Smart Soundbar 600 delivers – the manufacturer promises – ‘immersive audio for its size. The 600 enhances movies, TV and music by accurately placing dialogue, vocals, sound effects and instruments to the left, right and even above you – so the sound is stunning no matter where you’re watching or listening’. The Smart Soundbar 600 features built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Chromecast for total streaming control and works with built-in Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa for voice control. Bose Voice4Video technology combined with Alexa lets you turn on the TV, change channels and tune the TV to your favorite channel with a single command. Bose SimpleSync also lets you pair the soundbar with Bose headphones or Bluetooth speakers to further expand the listening experience. “When sound really captivates you, it can change your experience from simply watching TV and movies to being fully present with what’s on the screen. For those who want to feel surrounded by audio but don’t have much space for equipment, the Smart Soundbar 600 is the ideal solution”, said Raza Haider, chief product officer for Bose.
For all your entertainment
‘When Dolby Atmos content is available, Bose’s finely tuned digital signal processing and Atmos decoding combine with five transducers to produce sound anywhere, even where there are no speakers. Two side-firing racetrack-shaped transducers project horizontal sound into the room. A central tweeter, a speaker designed primarily to reproduce treble, provides crystal-clear dialogue, and two upward-facing transducers not only help horizontal sound reflection, but also carry the sound up through the ceiling, making it seem as if the sound is coming from above. With the power and depth these components produce, it feels like a high-speed chase is actually coming up behind you – and not at you, a thunderclap sounds overhead and the sound of rain surrounds you,” the manufacturer says.
Upmixing
The announcement continues: ‘Even when watching content not supported by Dolby Atmos, you can still enjoy excellent, immersive sounds. With support from those same five transducers, TrueSpace intelligently analyzes signals other than Dolby Atmos – such as stereo or 5.1 – and mixes them to produce equally effective sound with comparable spaciousness. For TV and music, Bose QuietPort technology ensures deep bass performance with virtually no distortion at any volume’.
Compact size and slim design
The Smart Soundbar 600 is small and compact, according to Bose: ‘Without making the enclosure taller, all the transducers needed to deliver high-quality audio fit inside – so performance is not compromised by size. The soundbar is 5.61 cm high, 10.39 cm deep and just over 69 cm long, giving the speaker a low profile that fits effortlessly under any TV. The soundbar has a matte casing with a sophisticated enveloping metal grille, all in black’.
Ease of use, total control and compatibility
Installation of the Smart Soundbar 600 is simple. Just connect one cable – an HDMI eARC or optical cable – from the soundbar to the TV and you’re done. The 600 further offers flexible streaming options. Using Wi-Fi, built-in Chromecast, Spotify Connect or Apple AirPlay 2, you have instant access to your favorite music streaming services. Bluetooth lets you stream from your phone or tablet. For voice control, the 600 works with built-in Google functionality and Amazon Alexa. The Bose Voice4Video feature combined with Alexa, allows you to get the TV to the right station and input with a single command.
Multiroom
Compatible with all other Bose smart speakers and soundbars, the Smart Soundbar 600 fits into a multi-room audio system. The 600 can be flawlessly paired with Bose bass modules and rear speakers for an even more robust home theater experience. The Bose Music app allows you to set up, control and personalize the soundbar, as well as access Bose SimpleSync and receive the latest software updates.
The Bose Smart Soundbar 600 is available from October 24 for $549.95 and can be reserved from today at Bose.co.uk.
