LEAK Stereo 230 integrated amplifier

LEAK releases the new Stereo 230 integrated amplifier, a – as the name suggests – integrated stereo amplifier.

Halfway through 2020, LEAK returned with its first product after forty years. Several devices from the brand have since appeared, the latest addition being the Stereo 230, which is an integrated stereo amplifier with a very classic look. Not very strange because being a British brand, and English people simply love classic design. Internally you’ll find, among other things, a DAC, plus Bluetooth with support for aptX and AAC. The DAC is based on the ES9018K2M, one with the better specs from the Sabre family. In terms of inputs, the LEAK Stereo 230 features a USB Type B connection, two S/PDIF inputs (optical and coax) as well as HDMI ARC. The analog side has also been taken care of, of course. Two analog stereo line inputs as well as an MM Phono input are available for this purpose.

Headphone amplifier

As far as PCM is concerned, the maximum achievable quality is 32 bit / 768 kHz and DSD up to DSD512. Support for MQA is available for its enthusiasts, and the LEAK Stereo 230 is “Roon Tested. The maximum power the class AB amplifier can deliver is 75 watts into 8 Ohms per channel or 115 watts per channel into 4 Ohms. Finally, a separate headphone amplifier has been considered. The unit will be available from January and will cost €1249.
