The Pro-Ject Stereo Box DS3 is a wonderfully compact and reasonably affordable integrated amplifier with no unnecessary fuss.
Thankfully they still exist, those “normal” integrated stereo amplifiers. So you’ll fail in finding a streaming module or networking capabilities in the new Pro-Ject Stereo Box DS3. If you want streaming, the only option is to connect an external streamer. This can easily be done via one of the three available RCA stereo inputs. Would you rather use a record player as a source? Then there is a phono input that can handle both MM and MC elements. Pro-Ject did make one concession to modern desires with this unit though: it features a Bluetooth 5.0 receiver that can handle apt-X HD.
150 Watts maximum
The power amplifier section of the Pro-Ject Stereo Box DS3 delivers a maximum of 150 watts per channel into 4 ohms, or 2 x 80 watts into 8 ohms. It also features an analog volume control, which, thanks to motor control, can be operated remotely too. For anyone who wants to use the DS3 as a preamplifier, this can be arranged via the regulated and fixed line level outputs.
