Van Medevoort Audio announces the vM PF470, a modular mains filter of which its production started.
Van Medevoort Audio thinks it is time for a new and improved mains filter: ‘This is necessary because pollution on the mains has increased enormously. The cause is well known, besides all the digital and RF radiation interfering with our mains, the smart electricity meter, solar panel inverters, charging stations for electric cars, the increase of adapters, smart home, etc. In short, too many to mention. Audio reproduction suffers more and more under this, it is obvious, the cleaner the mains, the better the audio set sounds. We have been proving this since the 1990s and it is now that an upgrade to the vM PF470 is needed‘.
Optimal load
Interesting about this new filter is its modular structure. According to Van Medevoort Audio, an audio filter works most effectively with an optimal load. For an optimalfilter effect it is therefore important to know the power consumption (in Watts) of (all) the devices to be connected. This information can normally be found on the back of the product and (or) in the user manual. With this data, Van Medevoort Audio can offer an optimal filter configuration. Indeed, the vM PF470 has room for seven (different or the same) filter modules which can be mounted. ‘From the smallest M50 of 50 watts for sources, to the largest M1000 of 1000 watts for heavy power amplifiers. Thus, optimal and separate filtering is possible by analog (amplifiers, ESL, etc.) and digital (CD player, dac, streamer, smart TV, etc.); each connect to their own module. All vM PF470 modules are therefore individually equipped with multiple symmetric filter technology, both CM and DM, as also to GND,” according to the manufacturer.
Price depends on module assignment
Per vM PF470, the total number installable modules as reported above is seven; the total maximum power of modules is 2,300 watts. Available are the M50, M100, M200, M400, M600 and M1000. The selling price depends on the module assignment. An optional vM PF470 3600 Wattversion can be made on requestin consultation.
