If you are looking for a reasonably affordable phono preamplifier for MC-elements, you may be good to go with the MC Pro by Michael Fidler. This is a hand-built device with a hybrid setup. Where by hybrid this time we mean a mix between discrete transistors and a (servo stabilized) opamp IC. Because highly accurate polystyrene capacitors intended for telecom applications are used, an RIAA accuracy of 0.1 dB is achieved. Furthermore, a subsonic filter is provided to effectively attenuate the worst infrasonic disturbances generated by vinyl standards. This prevents instability and overloading of amplifiers and speakers. Furthermore, a stereo/mono switch is provided to also optimally play mono vinyl. The included power supply is linear.
