The new Hegel H600 is a reference-quality streaming amplifier of which development took three years, according to the manufacturer.
Norwegian Hegel presents the H600 reference amplifier, the successor to the H590. In fact, little has not changed in the H600 from that predecessor. The maximum power the amplifier can deliver in 8 Ohms is 303 watts per channel. The stability of the power amplifier stage is so good that even speakers with an impedance of 2 Ohms can be driven effortlessly. Internally, the structure is dual-mono, while the built-in preamplifier has an advanced volume control that has borrowed its design from the reference preamplifier P30A. Practical is the feedback circuitry “SoundEngine2” which, according to the manufacturer, should ensure the lowest possible distortion. Always nice, needless to say.
Built-in streamer
The DAC circuit in the Hegel H600 is powered via a separate power supply circuit. The maximum quality of the D/A converter is 24 bit / 384 kHz. DSD up to DSD256 is also supported and various digital analog inputs and outputs are available. The built-in streamer supports not only UPnP for playing content via the (home) network, but also Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect. It features AirPlay 2 and Roon-Ready certification too.
As is the case with reference-class equipment, the Hegel H600 doesn’t come very cheap. You’ll take it home for €11,495.
