JBS LABS has released the ATOM Amp 2 and ATOM DAC 2, wonderfully compact and – it must be said – beautiful looking – devices.
As a matter of fact, the name of the new JBS LABS ATOM AMP 2 and DAC 2 indicates exactly the functionality of both newcomers. So we are talking about an amplifier (or better: a headphone amplifier) and a DAC. But in a compact design. It would be very strange if you don’t find a place for this set! The AMP 2 is a headphone amplifier with a maximum output power of 2.6 watts. On the front you will find a 4.4 mm balanced output as well as a 6.3 mm unbalanced output. Also provided is a headphone protection circuit that prevents accidental overdrive. Furthermore, DC protection is built-in. On the back you will find both line in and outputs.

Then there is the ATOM DAC 2, or D/A converter. In exactly the same design and size, so you can put it nicely on top of the AMP 2. The maximum achievable PCM quality is 32 bit / 384 kHz and DSD up to DSD128. Furthermore, USB-C is used as the now universal connection.
Both devices are particularly pleasantly priced: like the DAC 2, the JBS LABS ATOM AMP 2 costs only $129. That’s not too bad.
