An upgrade is available for the tweeter part of the airplain phli. New models have it on board by default.
The airplain phli will be delivered from now on (from 2024) with a new generation of Heil-AMT tweeters. This refreshed version of the phli can be recognized by the addition of MK2 to the type name. According to the manufacturer, the music reproduction is even more lively and the sound image now approaches that of a live concert. You can adjust the magnetic force of the new tweeters as desired, by changing the spacing. The AMT tweeters can also be used in coaxial drivers such as the IC7, for example, because the stray field of the ingenious magnet construction is significantly lower.
Retrofit upgrade or new model
All airplain phli models coming out in 2024 have the upgrade onboard by default. Should you wish to upgrade your existing speaker, this is also possible. In the case of the ap-AMT-M this will cost you 1520 Swiss Francs and in the case of the ap-AMT-L CHF 2570. There is nothing on the manufacturer ‘s website at the time of writing about the new variants and upgrade options, but we’re sure that will change sometime in the near future.
