Although the KEF LSX II LT is like two peas in a pod, but because there are fewer features, the price is significantly lower.
If you are looking for a desktop speaker for use in conjunction with a computer or tablet, for example, you will be fine with a more “simple” speaker. That is exactly the thought that (probably) underlies the KEF LSX II LT. This new speaker features the same driver as the LSX II, or the 11th generation Uni-Q with its same distinctive citrus press-shaped waveguide. Interestingly, the LSX II LT did not compromise on streaming capabilities. They support UPnP, music services Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect, Qobuz, Deezer and Amazon Music. Hi-res music up to 24 bit / 384 kHz quality is no problem at all. Internet radio is also included. Furthermore, you pair them wirelessly via AirPlay II, Google Chromecast or Bluetooth if desired. There are physical connections such as HDMI ARC in, optical digital in, USB-C in too and an output for a sub.
Wired paired speakers
What has been cut with the KEF LSX II LT is little shocker for desktop use. For example, both speakers must be connected by cable rather than wirelessly as with the LSX II. The analog line input has also been dropped and Roon Ready certification is missing. Furthermore, the finish is slightly different. No luxury fabric covering but a smooth finish. In which case you can choose from three colors – Graphite Grey, Stone White and Sage Green.
The KEF LSX II LT has a price tag of €999, which is a few hundred Euros less than the LSX II. Available from January 25, meanwhile already available for pre-order online.
