In any case, the Elipson W35 Xi already stands out for its spherical appearance and also offers numerous features.
Optically, the Elipson W35 Xi probably looks best on the optional tripod. But it is certainly not mandatory; the spherical speaker can be placed anywhere you want – tripod-free and all. Convenient, because that fits nicely with the multiroom capabilities the sphere has to offer. Fill your house with W35 Xi’s and you have the same (or different) sound in every room. The Xi is a further development of the original W35. According to the manufacturer, the new version should deliver more clear and precise highs and mids. In terms of drivers, there is a 16 cm woofer in the Elipson W35 Xi, assisted by two 2.5 cm tweeters on each side of the sphere.
Connective
The drivers are driven by a Class D amplifier with a maximum output of 350 watts. The Elipson W35 Xi features extensive network connectivity (both Wi-Fi and Ethernet are available). Airplay 2 and Chromecast are supported. Well-known music services such as Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer and Spotify are available too, while you can also listen to music from your NAS, for example. Internet radio has also been implemented. Then there is Bluetooth, which includes aptX HD standby.
The Elipson W35 Xi is available immediately for a price of €699; the optional tripod costs €149. A slim tripod is available for the same price. If you prefer to hang the speaker from the ceiling, there is the Ceiling Mount a €49. Or go for a wall mount a €79.
