The new JBL L10CS subwoofer gives the L52 and L82 MKII a boost in bass reproduction. It all fits together perfectly in terms of design, too!
Importer Reference Sounds draws attention to the new JBL L10CS:“With its white 10” Pure Paperpulp woofer, the L100 MkII is capable of putting down a wonderfully full low punch. The über-solid woofer will not easily choke on a bass line. Its smaller walnut relatives pack the same drive in a smaller package but naturally take it a little easier in the low end. Until you pair them with JBL’s new L10CS subwoofer! Equipped with built-in amplifier and totally in style with the rest of the Classic family‘. Of course, nothing stops you from using it as a supporting sub for other speaker models. For example, with the recently introduced JBL L42MS.
Extra support
The JBL L52 and L82 MkII are 2-way models in which the woofer handles not only the bass but also the midrange. For this reason – and the desire to keep the cabinet compact – a smaller woofer was chosen here. 5.25″ with the L52 and 8″ with the L82 MkII. ‘Although both models impress in their own right there is of course a limit to the weight and depth these models can achieve in bass reproduction. The L10CS is therefore designed to extend the energetic sound of these models downward. Combined with the L52 or L82 MkII, the L10CS builds powerful foundation and warmth without becoming annoying hammers. Indeed, the talents of the L10CS lie not so much in mimicking earthquakes or UFO landings but in subtly adding weight and power. Precisely what smaller speakers simply do not have enough membrane surface area for,‘ the importer explains.
Settings
The L10CS measures about 34cm wide, 40cm deep and 39cm high and features a white 10″ (25cm) woofer with Polycellulose membrane at the bottom. The subwoofer is equipped with two bass reflex ports at the back of the cabinet. On the same back side you’ll find the connection panel of the built-in 250Watt power amplifier. The amplifier receives its signal via a single RCA input from a dedicated subwoofer output or volume-controlled pre-out. The desired crossover frequency is adjustable between 50 and 150Hz. Its volume is adjustable too and to complete the picture, a Phase Selector is available. This allows you to integrate the sub perfectly with the main speakers.
The solid housing of the JBL L10CS comes in a Natural Walnut or Black Walnut finish, which visually matches the JBL Classic models. You’ll have to pay €749 to take them home.
