The new Epos ES-7N is a bookshelf speaker that can actually be placed on a bookshelf if desired, thus fully living up to its name.
Not every bookshelf speaker sounds optimal when placed on a bookshelf. The British Epos ES-7N (not related to the well-known headset manufacturer) has no trouble at all with such a base. And that’s mainly thanks to a switch on the back of the speakers that adjusts the crossover. With it, you choose between placement against a wall or a (semi-)free placement. The cabinet is made of 2 x 8 mm thick MDF, with a lossless damping layer in between. Furthermore, the manufacturer advises to place the speakers asymmetrically. In other words, with the tweeters on the inside of the setup.
The Epos ES-7N will be available from the second quarter of this year, at a cost of €1999.
