Pro-Ject T2 and T2 Super Phono turntables

The Pro-Ject T2 and T2 Super Phono are the brand’s latest turntables. One with and one without built-in preamp.

In case the Pro-Ject T2 in terms of type name sounds familiar to you somehow, that may be correct. Late last year, in fact, the brand released the T2 W, a wireless and streaming turntable. The new “regular” T2 and T2 Super Phono are classic turntables. Difference between the duo is, that the T2 is preampless, useful if you already have a phono preamplifier on hand (or have a phono input on your integrated amplifier). The T2 Super Phono has an on-board phono preamplifier – switchable if desired.

New type of tone arm

The design of both players is nice and minimalist, with no unnecessary embellishment. Both the Pro-Ject T2 and the Pro-Ject T2 Super Phono are belt-driven, and you can choose between the well-known 33 and 45 rpm. The tonearm used is a new 9-inch one. In terms of price, the players fall in the midrange segment as far as regular hi-fi is concerned. In terms of high-end, though, they are very affordable. The T2 changes hands for $549 and the T2 Super Phono for $659. Seems to us not a bad pricing for anyone who wants to get a little more serious with vinyl. Or just want to listen to his or her old collection again.
