Always very handy, such a receiver – or better: all in one – like this brand new Kenwood KR-W8000SCD. And its price is very nice!
The new Kenwood KR-W8000SCD is a true jack-of-all-trades when it comes to functionality. It is a complete receiver equipped with DAB+ and a classic FM tuner. As for the latter components, it is convenient that a whip antenna is available. After all: cable companies are increasingly rarely delivering FM radio through their cables into living rooms. In other words: if you still want to listen to ‘real’ radio, you have to pick it out of the ether yourself. Digital as DAB+ or in the form of old-fashioned analog FM. If you want to connect your own outdoor antenna, you can do that too. Just unscrew the rod and plug in the coax plug of the outdoor antenna.
Stream away!
In addition to the tuner, the Kenwood KR-W8000SCD also features a CD player, supports the streaming services Spotify Connect and Deezer plus web radio. As for available inputs, you have a choice of cinch analog, Phono (MM) and 2 x digital, each both coaxial and optical. There is also a USB port that allows you to play mp3s stored on a memory stick. And finally, as befits every receiver or all-in-one, a power amplifier has been implemented. This delivers a maximum power of 2 x 30 watts RMS. Remote control via the UNDOK OKTIV app is an option. Or use the control buttons and the 8cm TFT screen.
The price of the Kenwood KR-W8000SCD is surprising: you only pay €399 for it. Remarkably, at the time of writing the manufacturer does not yet mention a word about the newcomer, available from next month already. However, we already found it on this site of the German chain Expert. And that’s also where the – somewhat blurry – screenshot at the top comes from.
