For anyone looking for some “over the top” hi-fi, there’s now the McIntosh PS1K active subwoofer.
Naturally, the iconic McIntosh VU meter with its blue background is prominently featured on the new McIntosh PS1K. The robust 13-inch drivers—designed by the brand itself—also stand out, perfectly integrated into the overall design. These drivers use the patented Low Distortion High Performance (LD/HP) Magnetic Circuit Design. This unique setup should reduce distortion and is better equipped to handle high power. The drivers are powered by 2 x 500-watt Class D amplifiers, totaling 1000 watts. McIntosh’s own Power Guard and Sentry Monitor are in place to protect against power surges.
Of course, there’s the price of the McIntosh PS1K. As you might expect from this brand, it’s no bargain: you’ll need to shell out $35,000 before you can take one home.
