The new Unison Research S6 Black Edition is an updated version of this amplifier, promising even more audiophile listening pleasure.
The Unison Research S6 Black Edition is certainly dark in color. However, the manufacturer refers to it not as black but as “gun metal.” Compared to the previous model, numerous tweaks and improvements have been made, including modifications to the signal paths and the power supply. This results in a higher output power of up to 40 watts per channel. The power stage consists of three parallel-connected KT77 Gold Lion tubes per channel. For input selection, a relay-based system is used. An additional interesting detail is that this all-rounder also features a DAC3 section. In addition to four analog inputs, you have access to three digital inputs (USB-B, S/PDIF, and TOSLINK), offering plenty of versatility. The maximum PCM quality of the DAC is 384 kHz / 32-bit, and it supports DSD up to DSD256.
The Unison Research S6 Black Edition is priced at €5999. At the time of writing, no information about this new model has been posted on the manufacturer’s website.
