Rega’s founder, Roy Gandy, has fully transferred ownership of his company to its employees.
The decision to make Rega employee-owned aims to preserve the company’s core values well into the future. To achieve this, Rega used a specific UK business model called an EOT, or Employee Ownership Trust. The company further clarified that Gandy is not profiting financially from this step. A key benefit of an EOT structure is that it cannot be sold, even to potentially unscrupulous investors.
Now in its 51st year, Rega is widely known for its turntables but also produces amplifiers, CD players, and phono preamplifiers. Roy Gandy will continue to serve as the company’s director, remaining actively involved in research and development (R&D) and sales.
