Denon has added the new 7.2-channel AVR-X1700H high-performance AV Receiver (AVR) to its lineup, bringing spacious cinema sound into the living room. The new 7.2-channel AVR-X1700H high-performance AV Receiver (AVR) (also in DAB version) features three 8K HDMI inputs for the latest 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz Ultra HD sources for – according to Denon – ‘outstanding home theater, high-performance gaming and lifelike entertainment experiences. Renewing the entry-level class in the award-winning X Series, the AVR also offers the latest immersive 3D surround formats like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, as well as height virtualization and built-in HEOS music streaming technology for multiple rooms. The AVR-X1700H delivers seven channels of amplification at 145W per channel’.
High-resolution music streaming & multiroom
The Denon AVR-X1700H is compatible with both Apple AirPlay 2 for iPhone users and Bluetooth for Android smartphone users, while the front panel USB port makes playing audio from a variety of high-resolution audio formats (WAV, FLAC, ALAC and DSD 2.8/5.6 MHz files) possible from a range of storage devices. Wireless connectivity to popular streaming music services such as Spotify, Amazon Music HD, Tidal and more are also available via built-in HEOS. Streaming high resolution audio is possible when supported by the streaming service. With HEOS Built-in, the AVR-X1700H can wirelessly distribute music to compatible HEOS Built-in products such as the Denon Home 150/250/350 wireless speakers, those can be installed anywhere in your home. Listeners can play the same song perfectly synchronized in each room or select a different song for each connected room via the HEOS app. A phono input is also provided so vinyl lovers can enjoy their collection with clarity and detail. Dual subwoofer outputs allow listeners to easily add multiple subwoofers.
Compelling audio for the ultimate 3D theater experience
The Denon AVR-X1700H enables an immersive 3D audio experience with support for the latest surround sound formats, including Dolby Atmos, Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization Technology, DTS:X and DTS Virtual:X. Users can create a 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos surround system by installing height or ceiling speakers, installing Dolby Atmos height speakers on top of existing speakers, or using DTS Virtual:X and Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization technologies. Both Dolby and DTS technologies add virtualized height and surround sound effects to create immersive audio in 7.1, 5.1 or 2.1 speaker setups. This allows you to create the experience of a sound field that extends above and beyond the listener with fewer speakers, and is ideal for systems without separate height or surround speakers in the room.
Advanced 8K HDMI Video Section with eARC
To ensure the best possible picture quality, the AVR-X1700H is equipped with an advanced HDMI section. The HDMI card contains six inputs where one output includes three 8K inputs that support 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz video throughput up to 40 Gbps. All HDMI inputs feature 4:4:4 Pure Color subsampling, HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG), Dynamic HDR and BT.2020 pass-through support for the best picture. Also, all channels have 8K upscaling and HDCP 2.3, the latest copy protection standard so all content can be displayed. The Denon AVR-X1700H connects via eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) to bring uncompressed and object-based audio from the TV to the receiver via a single HDMI cable. Gamers also have access to a host of technologies for a smooth and faster gaming experience, including: 4K/120Hz pass-through, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Quick Frame Transport (QFT), and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM).
Improved Accuracy with Audyssey Space Correction
Denon’s AVR-X1700H uses Audyssey MultEQ XT for easy, accurate speaker setup and acoustic calibration of the system, allowing home theater enthusiasts to fine-tune their systems for an optimal listening experience. The technology detects the size, type and configuration of the speakers used and measures their response in the room for optimal performance. It works from a simple 2.1-channel setup to a 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos/DTS:X setup. Listeners can further customize settings as needed via the advanced Audyssey MultEQ Editor app, available for iOS and Android.
The AVR-X1700H (also available as AVR-X1700H DAB with built-in DAB tuner) costs €649 (€679 for AVR-X1700 DAB) and will be available from authorized Denon retailers from November 2021.
