Yamaha has released a “much needed” update that unlocks the HDMI 2.1 potential of its top 3 AVRs.
With the introduction of the Yamaha RX-A8A (seen above), RX-A6A and RX-A4A AVRs, much was promised in terms of capabilities. However, not nearly everything was available at that time. With the just released firmware update to version 1.65, the devices suddenly become a whole lot more interesting though! For example, 4K with a refresh rate of 120 Hz is now supported, a feature that should make gamers especially happy. HDR 10+ is also available after the update; furthermore, the devices mentioned can transmit 8K signals with a refresh rate of 60 Hz. Also, the update brings numerous technical improvements, making it a version that can actually be labeled as indispensable.
