TCL is releasing a new series of TVs in Europe, based on Mini Led and (or) QLED, which should provide a great picture, according to its makers.
TCL explains the advantages of the Mini LED technology they have embraced: ‘First of all, when it comes to picture quality, nothing is more important than the composition of the screen itself. Since 2018, TCL has been a pioneer in the Mini LED industry and has significantly focused on this technology. Today, it sets an industry benchmark and is the main display technology behind the best home theater experience. Aware of the potential of Mini LED technology, TCL launched the world’s first Mini LED TV to reach mass production in 2019. TCL consumers responded to the benefits of Mini LED technology thanks to the increase in local dimming zones (producing greater levels of brightness than ever before) for better contrast, color and brightness and overall improved picture quality’.
Ultra-thin
The manufacturer continues: ‘As a relatively new display technology, Mini LED’s greatest value to users lies in its ability to pack spectacular image quality into an ultra-thin screen. TCL established its own Mini LED & Optical Technology Development Department in 2020, with the sole aim of overcoming this challenge by producing the largest number of backlight LED areas in the industry. After nearly a year of in-depth research, TCL launched the world’s first TCL OD Zero Mini LED TV in 2021, with a thickness of only 9.9 mm and 1920 dimming zones, offering exceptional picture quality compared to OLED models. Using the highly efficient Mini LEDs with wide beam angle, TCL managed to achieve a peak brightness of HDR 2000 nits, providing a crystal clear picture even in daylight.
As a brand, TCL is also on a mission to make high-quality technology accessible to everyone. Once TCL’s leading R&D team invented quality Mini LED displays, they set out to find practical ways to produce them at volume. The traditionally high cost of Mini LED products is partly due to the larger number of LEDs required. TCL’s research team devised a process to significantly reduce the cost of the LED itself, without affecting the uniformity of the overall screen’.
More energy efficient
Additional benefit of Mini LED, according to TCL, is “not only a better viewing experience, but also it’s better for our planet. Not only can the Mini LEDs themselves be made more energy efficient – thanks to the ability to dim specific areas, less energy is needed than with other backlight technologies to produce the same brightness’.
New models for 2023
In 2023, TCL is expanding its portfolio with a new generation of TCL Mini LED technology and more choices, including the brand’s largest ever Mini LED TVs, new picture performance technologies and advanced gaming features.
