XGIMI presents projector with both LED and laser

Both LED and lasers have their own advantages and disadvantages when it comes to light sources in projectors; XGIMI makes sure you don’t have to choose.

XGIMI has come up with Dual Light technology, which combines LED and laser light sources, leveraging the benefits of both. Dual Light technology uses two light sources operating at six different wavelengths and is based on 278 patented technologies. ‘Using the Dual Light technology, a natural spectrum is created, combined with ultra-high brightness and a color gamut characterized by a very high accuracy of color reproduction,’ says the manufacturer.
The following train of thought applies here:
  • LED: provides a comfortable viewing experience for the eyes and has high color accuracy, but cannot deliver high brightness.
  • Laser: high brightness and high color accuracy, but the narrow wavelength band makes the viewing experience uncomfortable for the eyes.

Combining strengths

Combining both technologies into one gives you the strengths of both. Laser complements the shortcomings of LED, creating an ultra-high color gamut and ultra-high brightness. LED captures disadvantages of laser, allowing for prolonged viewing of the natural spectrum without causing eye fatigue.
With the breakthrough in brightness enhancement of Dual Light technology, we believe brightness will no longer be an issue for consumer projectors. XGIMI is not only committed to brightness, but also to accurate color reproduction“, said Steven Xiao, CEO of XGIMI.
More information about the technology can be found on the manufacturer’s blog.
