HBO Max: good news for early subscribers

The revamped HBO Max will go live on June 11 this year. The streamer has good news for early entrants with discounted subscriptions.

Every once in a while, some pretty good news comes out of streaming land. At the time of launch, HBO gave its first customers a substantial discount. This would be “lifetime”. At least: lifetime regarding the lifetime of the platform itself. However, precisely that was revamped and so those ‘early adopters’ feared they would lose their nice little advantage. As it turns out, nothing could be further from the truth: all those early adopters were welcomed this week with an e-mail indicating that they will continue to receive 50% off their HBO Max subscription.

Even after the final implementation of all renewals. However, those very first subscriptions sold for €3.99. Because the price of the new HBO Max will be €9.99 per month, the discount price will also go up slightly. To €4.99 to be exact. But you’ll still be in the front row for a dime with such a price of course.

No further restrictions: neat!

Interestingly, discount subscribers will not be downgraded to for example a lower image quality or a subscription with ads. No, they just remain full subscribers. That’s very neat and actually as it should be. In fact, many other streamers can take a fine example from this streamer’s course of action, as far as we are concerned.
