Loewe has revealed that it is opening a production facility for making OLED screens in hometown Kronach.
Slowly it seems to be dawning on more and more manufacturers that dependence on production in the Far East is just as far from ideal. Loewe is going for “Engineered & Made in Germany,” and that purpose it’s opening a factory of OLED panels in Kronach, Germany. To which this appears to be a first big step, because for now it is buying OLED glass and “open cell components” from an unnamed manufacturer from Korea. Who that might be…? Either way, the Germans have indicated that this will allow them to make panels entirely to their own liking.
Furthermore, Loewe let it be known that everything concerning their TVs – that is, including software development and final assembly of devices – will be done in Kronach starting this month. A boost for the region, but certainly also for the European economy and a nice step toward more production on EU soil.
