The Formovie Premium and Cinema Edge are a new set of projectors, as announced by Dutch distributor KlankBart.

Starting mid-this month, the brand-new 3-laser Formovie Premium will be available. This is the latest model from Formovie featuring a 3-laser light source, Dolby Vision, and built-in Netflix and YouTube apps, according to KlankBart. It is a single-chip DLP projector with a 4K (3840×2160) resolution. Inside, it features ALPD (Advanced Laser Phosphor Display) 4.0 RGB+ technology, combining RGB lasers and phosphor, which according to Formovie, claims to cover more than 107% of the Rec. 2020 color gamut. The brightness of this UST is stated as 2,200 ISO lumens, with a lifespan of 30,000 hours.

Minimal Space Required

An ultra-short-throw projector (UST) requires very little space between the projector and the projection screen or wall, achieved through an ultra-wide-angle lens. Generally, a projector needs to have a throw ratio of less than 0.4:1 to qualify as a UST.

KlankBart explains: “This kind of setup is desirable for a few reasons. First, there’s the issue of space, and secondly, you don’t need to run cables across the ceiling. With a traditional projector, you need quite a large room to get a big image. Most traditional projectors have a throw ratio of 2:1—meaning you need to place the projector about 5 meters away from a surface to get a 100-inch image. With the 0.21:1 ratio, the Formovie Theater Premium can project an 80-inch image while placed just 40 centimeters from the projection surface, and a 150-inch image from 75 centimeters from the projector’s front.

Formovie Cinema Edge

Also new and already available is the more affordable Formovie Cinema Edge laser TV UST projector. “The Formovie Cinema Edge projector is a smaller model with an attractive price for consumers seeking a premium viewing experience.

One of the standout features of the Formovie Theater Premium and Cinema Edge is the integration of Google TV and native Netflix support, a significant upgrade over the Android 11 operating system built into the Formovie Theater,” says KlankBart.

Seamless Streaming

The distributor continues: “The integration of these streaming platforms directly into the projector provides users with a seamless and easy way to access their favorite content without needing additional devices. This feature is particularly notable since many projectors on the market require external streaming sticks or devices. With these new models, Formovie has managed to simplify the user experience while enhancing functionality.
